Roz Lord was born in 1965 in Santa Barbara, Ca. where she resides today.  Displaying a high degree of natural artistic ability early on she began formal training at the age of ten with artist Pamela Rossenbloom.  When it became clear that painting would become her life’s work  further study continued with Greg LeRoy at the Riviera Fine Arts Center aiming at moving toward artistic maturity and a deeper understanding of the issues associated with dedicating one’s life to art. 

Roz is a tireless worker who can often be found in her studio working late into the night.  “I need the solitude when I’m working so I can focus my energy on the painting without outside distractions,” she says.  “It’s like a kind of meditation or a shift in consciousness and it can be very illusive.”  Speaking of her own work  Roz says, “I guess you could say I’m really painting my interior landscape.”  “The actual subject matter of my painting is not what’s important to me.”  “It acts more as a metaphor for the expression of a deeper reality.”
